Hierdie is ‘n nuwe fees in alle opsigte.

DIAS FESTIVAL – A festival synonymous with Mossel Bay occurred for the 1st time on the 3rd of February 2012. Please note that the festival is not to be confused with the already familiar Dias Festival which was held at the premises of the Dias Museum in the past. This is a new festival in all aspects.Contrary to the already known Dias Festival held at the Dias Museum premises the future Dias Festival is planned to include many activities spread over Central Mossel Bay including some beach areas. Exhibiting areas for IEA purposes will be mainly concentrated to Santos Beach area (parking lot and caravan park). The aim of this festival would be to establish an annual cultural festival focussed on the local community with the garden Route area as the base. The organisers would endeavour to attract visitors especially from as far as PE and Cape Town aiming to involve a total of at least 10 000 people. Bartholomeu Dias the Portuguese explorer and navigator, as we all know, landed in Mossel Bay area circa 1488 and there-after became part of the history of Mossel Bay.
All Activities as far as the festival are concerned would be financed by each individual participant. Sponsorship will be most important in order to be able to create such a festival. No direct financial contribution will be received from Mossel Bay Municipality. The festival will however be supported 100% at all levels in an administrative and support capacity by the Municipality of Mossel Bay. The entire management structure including the Municipal Manager (Dr. M. Gratz) and the Executive Mayor (Elder Lady Me. M. Ferreira) is actively involved in the planning and execution of the festival. Mossel Bay Municipality is the principal with the I.E.A as official body in charge of creating stall space for exhibitors and managing it.
Important!! We are urgently looking for suitable exhibitors who could exhibit at the festival from 31 January 2013 until and including the 3th of February 2013. We are especially on the lookout for foodstalls representing and satisfying all tastes and cultures. Open fires would be considered. Please – if you qualify – do not hesitate to apply on the prescribed application form herewith and become part of a festival in our town which can only grow into a magnificent yearly event. See application forms here (above) – it can be downloaded, completed and submitted or copies for submission could be obtained from the IEA office in Voorbaai on Wednesdays and Thursdays (08h00 till 14h00 daily). Office – (044) 695 2331. A preliminary program for the planned Diaz festival is also available here-under for your convenience which would give you an insight into what is planned. Please note the word preliminary as it is subject to change – this program is not the final product yet.
